About
Hi! My name is Braden, and currently I’m a senior at Pittsburg State University set to graduate in May of 2026. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Strategic Communications with a minor in Spanish. My involvement at Pitt state included being a proud member of the Christian Fraternity on campus, Chi Omicron Rho, for five semesters. My other time and responsibilities went towards my part time job of being a supervisor for the local AMC theatre in Pittsburg, KS. During my time at Pitt state, I was grateful to have received the opportunity to study abroad in Alicante Spain to immerse myself in a different culture and to take classes to improve my Spanish speaking ability. I enjoyed my experience so much that after my Spring semester of 2025 I intend on returning to Spain for two semesters as Native English Language Assistant to help students learn English.

What is Communication?
Communication as a study, to the best of my ability, can be defined as the verbal and nonverbal expression of ideas or interest to achieve a specific goal. As an example, while human communication and strategic communication are different, I believe the value of both are to achieve a goal using the discussion of ideas to get there.
What is the value of an Umbrella Department?
The value of communication being an umbrella department is that it covers a wide variety of different skill sets and careers. While being a businessman and a therapist are both very different from each other, communication is something they have in common. An umbrella department opens many doors for opportunity in the job field.
What is the value provided to society by a communication graduate?
I think communication students have a lot to offer when it comes to providing benefit to society. Great ideas aren't useful if lack the ability to explained or understood by others. Entrepreneurs attempting to start their own business need people to persuade customers to purchase their products, and so many more examples. The communication skill set potential is limitless.
How am I positive representation of a communication major?
Currently, I would say I'm a positive representation by being involved and having something to show for my work. Once I graduate, I can have even more of a representation through other jobs being able to see what I was able to do and what I'm capable of as a PSU communication major.
